Wildland Fire Contract Paramedic – Fireline Qualified

Position Summary 

Action Resources, LLC is seeking Fireline Qualified Wildland Fire Contract Paramedics to provide advanced life support (ALS) and emergency medical services in wildfire environments. This position supports federal, state, and local incident management teams and requires a state certification from your home state in which you were originally certified as a Paramedic. Paramedics must be operationally Fireline-ready, physically capable of supporting active wildfire suppression operations, and eligible for multi-state deployment. 

Paramedic functions within the Incident Command System (ICS), operates under an approved Medical Plan (ICS-206), and designated medical direction, and provides medical support. Job requirements include but are not limited to Fireline personnel, base camps, spike camps, helibases, and remote divisions. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

Fireline Operations 

  • Operate as a Fireline Qualified Medical Resource (EMPF) within active wildfire suppression environments 

  • Provide direct medical support to fire crews, divisions, modules, and incident personnel 

  • Maintain situational awareness of fire behavior, weather, terrain, and operational hazards 

  • Comply with all Fireline safety standards including LCES, communications protocols, and incident safety briefings 

  • Function independently as a single-resource medic in remote and severe locations 

 

 

Clinical Care 

  • Provide ALS/BLS medical care in accordance with approved protocols and medical direction 

  • Conduct patient assessment, treatment, stabilization, and packaging 

  • Coordinate patient evacuation utilizing ground or air resources 

  • Complete accurate patient care and incident medical documentation 

 

Incident Integration 

  • Operate under the supervision of the Medical Unit Leader (MEDL) or designated incident supervisor 

  • Integrate fully into the ICS structure and incident operational rhythm 

  • Participate in medical planning, briefings, and demobilization processes 

 

Compensation & Pay Structure 

  • Base rate of $35/per hour, with overtime over 40 hours/week, and bonus structure to equate to $850/day 

  • Structure of pay complies with all applicable rules and regulations governed by Federal, State, and Local laws.  

 

Bonus adjusted as needed to ensure total daily compensation of $850/day 

 

Minimum Qualifications (Required) 

Licensure & Medical Credentials 

  • Current State Paramedic certification. *Please submit all State Paramedic certifications, if multiple are held.* 

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record 

  • Experience driving an ambulance and UTV

Additional, preferred but not required certifications and experience 

  • NREMT Certification 

  • EMS Compact or state reciprocity certification 

  • ACLS, (or equivalent) 

  • 1 year prior experience as a Paramedic active in the field, Incident Medical Specialist (IMS), Fireline Medic, or other applicable documented experience as a Paramedic. 

 

Fireline Qualification (NWCG-Aligned) 

  • Fireline Qualified, including: 

  • Completion of required NWCG courses: 

  • S-130 Firefighter Training 

  • S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior 

  • L-180 Human Factors on the Fireline 

  • IS-100 Intro to the Incident Command System (ICS) 

  • IS-700 Intro to the National Incident Management System (NIMS) 

  • Current RT-130 Wildland Fire Safety Refresher. Must be done in person with proof of practice shelter deployment 

  • Ability to meet NWCG Pack Test requirements appropriate to assignment (Arduous required). If already completed, please provide proof of completion. 

 

ICS / NIMS 

  • FEMA ICS courses: 

  • IS-100 

  • IS-700 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prior experience as a Fireline Medic, or Single-Resource EMT or Medic 

  • Experience on the fireline and working with overhead of IMT’s. 

  • Experience as a Paramedic with a Fire Department or Agency running 911 responses 

  • Multi-state EMS licensure (OR, ID, MT, CA a plus) 

  • Experience with aviation and helibase medical operations 

 

Physical & Environmental Requirements 

  • Ability to work 12-hour operational periods for extended deployments 

  • Ability to hike, lift, and carry medical and personal gear in rugged terrain 

  • Tolerance for extreme heat, smoke, altitude, and limited facilities 

  • Ability to live and work in base and spike camp environments for extended periods

  • Maintain professional conduct and fireline-ready appearance 

  • Comply with all agency, incident, and Action Resources, LLC policies 

  • Demonstrate sound judgment, adaptability, and calm decision-making under stress 

  • Maintain all certifications, fitness standards, and deployment readiness

  • All credentials must be current and verifiable prior to mobilization

  • Deployment is contingent upon incident needs and agency approval 

  • Must submit 3-year driving record, upon hire
